I’d like to tell you the story of one of the artisans we work with in Guatemala named Juana.
She is a delightful lady and is a very accomplished seamstress as well as backstrap weaver. She had mastered a new difficult weaving design and then proceeded to weave placemats for us using this new design.
See the many placemats, napkins and other weavings here
They were lovely placemats and we expressed our desire for the group to begin making them for us. Juana broke down in tears stating that she really appreciates the help we are giving her and her family. The group has not been able to sell much before we began working with them and now they are learning what tourists like and what will sell.
Juana has many children and her weaving is a way for her to work at home and help feed and educate her children.
Thank you for helping Juana and all of the artisans
which also helps the children!
